61% of Mumbai Ambulance Tyres Unfit for Road Travel, Reveals KwikFix Auto’s Ambulance Health Check Survey

Our Bureau

KwikFix Auto, a Mumbai-based automotive aggregator, recently conducted a comprehensive health check survey of ambulance tyres across the city. As India marks the completion of three years since the COVID-19 lockdown, the findings have exposed a concerning issue: 61% of the inspected tyres were found to be unfit for road travel, posing a significant risk to the lives of patients and medical staff. Given the importance of tyres in braking and handling of ambulances, especially when carrying critical patients at high speeds, driving with faulty tyres could lead to serious accidents.

In the wake of this alarming discovery, KwikFix Auto’s team of tyre engineers and trained mechanics inspected a total of 236 tyres from 59 ambulances stationed at various hospitals in Mumbai. They identified numerous problems with the worn-out tyres, including low tread depth, exposed cords, sidewall damage, and irregular wear patterns, all of which could compromise the safety and performance of the ambulances.

A Wake-Up Call for Emergency Medical Services

Ravi Chandarana, Co-founder of KwikFix Auto, expressed his concerns, “The survey’s results are a wake-up call for all stakeholders involved in emergency medical services. Our findings highlight the urgent need to address the state of ambulance tyres in Mumbai, as it directly impacts patient care, response times, and overall safety.”

Manshi Modi-Chandarana, Co-founder of KwikFix Auto, added, “At KwikFix Auto, we are committed to transforming the automotive repair market in India. We urge hospitals, ambulance operators, and local authorities to take immediate action and collaborate to resolve this critical issue. Our team at KwikFix Auto stands ready to assist and provide the necessary support to ensure the safety and efficiency of ambulance services in Mumbai.”

In light of the startling survey results, KwikFix Auto aims to raise awareness about the importance of tyre maintenance and safety for emergency vehicles.
