Narayana Health SRCC Children’s Hospital, Lions Club of Churchgate organises rally to raise awareness on organ donation

Although India is now third only after USA and China on the global map of organ donation as per the data available, the gap between patients who require transplants and the organs that are available in India is widening. Every year in India, because of the very low rate of organ donation almost 500,000 people die. And among them, a good many numbers are children. The top three reasons for this poor rate are Lack of Education and Awareness, Lack of Family Consent, Superstitions and Misconceptions. With the sole motto of spreading awareness, on the occasion of Organ Donation Week, SRCC Children’s Hospital, managed by Narayana Health, in association with the Lions Club of Churchgate has organized Organ Donation Awareness Rally.

Dr. Soonu Udani, the Medical Director of Narayana Health’s SRCC Children’s Hospital, opined “We come into this world with nothing. We leave with nothing. But we leave memories for our loved ones.  We can also leave our organs to save lives of those whose organs have failed.  You won’t just save a life. You will save a family.”
