Turquoise Health Launches New Verified Program with Houston Physicians’ Hospital as the First Price Transparency Provider

Our Bureau

Turquoise Health announced today that Houston Physicians’ Hospital is the first Turquoise Verified provider on its platform. Turquoise Verified is a free program that highlights pioneering providers who are going beyond the Hospital Price Transparency Final Rule. Verified Providers will receive a checkmark on the platform profile page allowing patients to quickly view compliant locations in their area for healthcare services.

“Houston Physicians’ Hospital’s staff and physicians are united in the pursuit of positive patient experiences,” says Houston Physicians’ Hospital CEO Heather Womack. “This includes not just achieving better patient outcomes but empowering patients to make informed decisions when choosing a hospital-based on price and quality.  By using pricing and quality data provided by trusted sources like Turquoise, patients can make more informed decisions about which hospital to go to. We’re proud to be their first partner.”

“We need a spotlight on providers, like Houston Physicians’ Hospital, that are going beyond this year’s mandate and setting the standard for price transparency despite the pressures of the pandemic,” said Joe Wisniewski, the Head of Platform Growth at Turquoise Health.

Turquoise Verified is that spotlight and the platform provides healthcare pricing transparency by curating over 393 million records of never-before-seen provider rates. The platform simplifies the transaction process of healthcare so that patients can understand the total cost upfront, while also working with providers and payers who recognize the potential for transparency in transforming the market. This program allows providers to utilize the Company’s expertise in order to make their data and pricing files proactively useful for patients and consumers.

Houston Physicians’ Hospital, located in Webster, TX, is at the forefront of price transparency compared to other local and national providers. The hospital has gone above and beyond to make its data and pricing easy to use and understand for patients. It serves South Houston, Clear Lake, Webster, League City, Galveston, and neighboring communities throughout South Texas and is on average 49.2% more affordable than the nearest five providers geographically.
