Roche Diabetes Care India (RDC) and Fitterfly Digital Therapeutics, India’s health-tech company in Digital Therapeutics (DTx) have partnered up to arrange a 90-day diabetes management program. The program was dedicated to people with type 2 diabetes. It was designed to give insights on blood sugar, nutrition and wellness including fitness assessments, personalization and reports for doctors.
Diabetes is basically a chronic condition that affects the way the body processes blood sugar. The body either doesn’t produce enough insulin or it resists insulin, with type 2 diabetes. The signs and symptoms of type 2 diabetes often develop slowly. The signs and symptoms may include- increased thirst, frequent urination, increased hunger, weight loss, fatigue, blurred vision, frequent infections, etc.
Type 2 diabetes have increased rapidly in India in the last few years. The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is 2.4% in rural population and 11.6% in urban population. The reasons for the escalation in diabetes in India are- increased insulin resistance, stronger genetic factors and environmental factors associated with urban areas. Campaigns or programs like this are important to raise the awareness against diabetes and are needed more.
