Orbis, a leading global non-governmental organization dedicated to preventing and treating avoidable blindness, has partnered with PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital to inaugurate the Green Vision Center (GVC) in Satara, Maharashtra. The center is a revolutionary initiative that aims to provide sustainable and environmentally responsible primary eye care and quality optical services to the local community.
The GVC employs an innovative approach, combining the use of clean solar-powered electricity, energy-efficient electrical fixtures and appliances, and digital data management software to transform traditional vision centers. Through this, the GVC aims to provide uninterrupted access to eye health services while contributing to the sustainable development goals of the region. The center has also been designed to address the long-standing issue of data management, which enables better patient care and patient data management, improving continuity of care and reducing the use of paper.
The GVC in Satara is the latest initiative in the longstanding partnership between PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital and Orbis. The center offers a new approach to providing primary eye care that can transform the way eye health services are provided, sustain the impact delivered, and instill the concept of sustainability among citizens in the Satara district.
