Genesis Foundation and ACRE Give New Life to 1-week-old Baby Born with Critical Heart Defect

An 8-days old baby girl born with Interrupted Aortic Arch A-P window, a critical congenital heart defect, received life-saving treatment thanks to the Genesis Foundation and its CSR Partner, Assets Care & Reconstruction Enterprise Ltd. (ACRE). The defect prevented oxygen-rich blood from reaching all parts of the baby’s body, putting her life in danger.

The baby girl was brought to Artemis Hospital in Gurugram with a combination of serious conditions, including cardiogenic shock and acute renal failure. Her father, who works as a driver, couldn’t afford the cost of the corrective surgery she needed to survive. That’s where Genesis Foundation stepped in, providing the funds for the life-saving procedure.

“Every minute counted in this high-risk surgery, and we’re grateful to have been able to save the child’s life,” said Dr. Aseem Srivastava, Head of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at Artemis Hospitals. “While congenital heart defects are still a major concern in India, this baby’s story shows that with timely treatment, a normal life is possible.”

ACRE funded the procedure as part of their CSR initiatives in healthcare, and together with Genesis Foundation, they have already helped over 80 children with heart defects receive life-saving treatment. “We are proud to be working with Genesis Foundation on such a meaningful cause,” said Mr. Jatin Mahajan, Senior Manager at ACRE. “We wish the baby a speedy and full recovery.”
