Nutritional supplement company, Clear Within, has chosen DolCas Biotech’s Curcugen® turmeric extract as the key ingredient for its vegan nutricosmetic product aimed at promoting clear skin. Clear Within conducted an intensive evaluation of turmeric extracts before selecting Curcugen, which eliminated the need for other non-active ingredients in their formulation and boosted bioavailability of free curcumin 39-fold. The reformulated product, which includes detox botanicals, milk thistle, and zinc, is sold in health shops and online.
According to Innova Market Insights, curcumin ingredients in nutritional supplements have seen a year-to-year growth of 12.6% over the last five years, with a 14% share in skin health (beauty from within). A Mordor Intelligence report also predicts that the curcumin market will grow by a CAGR of 12.5% through 2028, driven by the anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidation properties of curcumin.
“We seized this opportunity to pack in more actives, such as detox botanical, milk thistle, and the mineral integral to skin and hormone support, zinc,” said Arrad Rahgoshay, Founder and CEO of Clear Within. “Curcugen eliminated our need to include other non-active ingredients in our formulation and freed up space in our capsules.” Curcugen is a full-spectrum turmeric ingredient that does not require masking and is free from additives, synthetic and non-turmeric bioenhancers, and soy, making it ideal for consumers with dietary sensitivities.
